Scientific scope
Solar absorption measurements using a FTIR spectrometer. The objective is to observe reactive trace gases in air originating in Africa and being transported via the Atlantic ocean and air stemming in the tropical Amazonian rain-forest (Petersen, 2010). Of special interest is this region, because it is the transition area between air in northern and the southern hemispheric troposphere (Sun, 2923).
