Description
Observational platform for background in situ measurements of aerosols and reactive trace gases in the North German Plain in the rural Central Europe. The station is surrounded by forest, grasslands, open shrublands and croplands in east of the Luneburg Heath.
Scientific scope
The observational platform measures background pollutions in the North German Plain since 1970 and is part of the Air Quality Network of the German Environment Agency and EMEP.
The monitoring program of the station includes measurements of aerosols and their compositions, reactive trace gases, VOC and mercury. The analysis of heavy metals and SO2 are a special research targets of the station.
In ACTRIS the station is contributing to reactive trace gases and aerosol in situ measurements.
