Description

Observational platform, rural Central European site

Scientific scope

The goal of the measurement program at the Lindenberg Observatory of DWD is the availability of comprehensive data sets for the following tasks:

(1) long-term observations of the atmosphere for climate monitoring as part of national and international programs including the analysis of long-term trends

(2) validation of numeric weather prediction and climate model output, including the validation of parameterizations of subgrid-scale processes

(3) provision of high-resolution data for assimilation to the numeric weather prediction models
reference site of the WMO as part of international programs (GRUAN lead centre, CIMO lead centre / testbed for atmospheric observations)

(4) provision of data sets for the validation of satellite data and the validation of several other products

(5) testing, operation, and scientific supervision of components of the operational measurement networks of the DWD
