Description
Ground-based fixed, rural environment, in the vicinity of the small city of Payerne (10'000 inhabitants).
PAY is part of GRUAN (radio sounding), SwissMetNet (operational in-situ measurements of meteorological parameters), EMER-Met (remote sensing of meteorological parameters), BSRN (radiation), AERONET, EARLINET, ACTRIS, E-Profile and Auto-Pollen.
Soil moisture measurements are performed too.
Scientific scope
PAY has in-situ and remote-sensing aerosol components as well as a remote-sensing cloud component. It is moreover a meteorological station with radio sounding and comprises automatic pollen measurements. A NABEL station with measurements of main gaseous compounds is also available.
